TEXT: Matthew 12:46-50

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 122:1 “I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of
the Lord.”

TEACHER’S OBJECTIVE
1. Children should be exposed to the joy in joining the family of God
2. Children should understand the fact that only the born again child can be called
into God’s family.
3. Explain to the children their physical family and spiritual family.

CENTRAL TRUTH
Only those who do the will of God are qualified to be in God’s family.

INTRODUCTION
Star the lesson with the following Chorus:
I was glad when they said
Let us go to the House of the Lord.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
1. While Jesus was teaching the word of God, his mother and brethren stood outside
wanting to speak with him. Matthew 12:46.
2. Then one of the disciples drew Jesus attention to his parents that wanted to speak
with him. Matthew 12:47.
3. Jesus stretched his hands to those listening to him and told the disciples that
those listening to him were his parents and brethren. Matthew 12:49.
4. Jesus said that those who do the will of God are his brother, sister and mother.
Matthew 12:50.
5. Jesus made us know that those who do the will of God are his family.

APPLICATION
Do you want to join the family of God? Then do the will of God. Obey and do His commands.
Your earthly family (Parents, brothers and sisters) is important so also is your spiritual
family (all those who are born again in the Church of God).

INVITATION
Join the family of God? You do that by being Born Again. Give your life to Jesus, turn away
from sin, believe in Jesus and receive Him as your Lord. John 1:12&13. Then you would be
given the power to be a Son of God.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. Who was Jesus talking to? He was talking to his disciples.
2. Who wanted to see Jesus when He was talking? His mother and brethren.
3. How can we join the family of God? By being Born again.
4. Who are the family of God? Those who hear the word of god and do it. Luke 8:21.

TUESDAY - Luke 8:19 -Jesus mother and brothers came to Him.
WEDNESDAY – Luke 8:20 -A disciple told Jesus that his family were Looking for Him.
THURSDAY - Luke 8:21 - Jesus said that His family are those who hear the word of God and 
do it.
FRIDAY - Mark 3:35 - Those who do the will of God are part of the family of God.
SATURDAY - Philemon 1:16 - Thank you for my Family and the family of God.
SUNDAY - Psalm 122:1 - Thank you for the Family of God.
